    SPMCurrent oil tanker day rates dictate that product transfer operations, between tankers and storage facilities via single point mooring buoys, be carried out as quickly and safely as possible within a given weather window.

    The Seamap Single Point Mooring Buoy Monitoring System (SPMBMS) provides the vessel Master and loading crew with essential information allowing them to maintain a successful and safe product transfer. The SPMBMS comprises of a set of sensors which are interfaced to an electronics acquisition module and radio transmitter on the buoy. The radio unit transmits the data to remote portable units for use by the vessel’s personnel and to a base station which can be located at the storage facility on shore. Power to the buoy mounted electronics is provided from solar cells via a battery pack and power management system. Typical sensors on the SPM include hawser load, mooring line strain, product temperature and pressure, sea state, water temperature and depth, wind speed and direction, navigation light operation, fog horn operation and a trespasser detector.

    The data from each sensor can be displayed in real time at the portable units and the base station and can also be logged for later analysis. Additional client specified sensors can also be incorporated in to the system.
