The Free Fall Cone Penetrometer (FFCP) free falls through the water column and impacts the seabed to gather geophysical and geotechnical data. The information gathered helps in determining the seabed makeup and characteristics. The most common measurement is identifying the sheer strength of the seabed. This assists with determining the sea floor characteristics and make up of the seabed.
